How to change thermostat on 2005 chevy impala?

top radiator hose is hooked

top radiator hose is hooked to a housing on the engine that holds the thermostat - drain enough coolant form radiator so that when you remove the hose and housing its not leaking out - remove the housing and thermostat and clean connecting areas - replace thermostat in same position as when removed and make sure the gasket seals the housing - i would check hose condition and replace if needed - attach hose and fill with coolant - run engine until hot - check for leaks - its always good to have a manual for step by step with pics. try alldatadiy.com.
