the top radiator hose is
the top radiator hose is attached to the thrmostat housing on the engine - drain enough coolant so that the housing can be removed - clean the area and insert new thermostat and gasket.
The thermostat housing is at
The thermostat housing is at the end of the top radiator hose. However, the housing is behind the exhaust crossover pipe (exhaust pipe which runs across the rear of the engine from one exhaust manifold to the other). This makes it difficult to replace. Use a wrench to remove the hard to get to bolt, a socket works for the other one. To get it done faster you'll be tempted to remove the crossover pipe--don't. The bolts could break and the job will go into extra innings.
Note**Change the thermostat when the engine is cool, otherwise the crossover pipe could burn you.
