i have a 03 pontiac montana. it is leaking coolant into the oil. could this be more than a gasket gone bad? also how do you drop the engine to get to the back of it?

There is a good chance you have a blown head gasket. When the vehicle overheats the engine will blow seals mixing coolant and oil.

There is a chance there is further damage to the heads. You need to remove the heads and send them to a machine shop. They may have warped in the heat, this could cause compression issues.
I would recommend taking this to a professional shop with a warranty. This process can be a long headache for amateur mechanic. This process will take more than a couple days. In conclusion depending on the heads condition it may even be easier dropping another engine.
