i have a 1979 chevy impala it won't go into any drives only goes into neutral and reverse. i put 3 bottles of transmission fluid in it and it still wont do anything

have you checked the fluid, if so is it dark in color, should be pink/red?

if its that low you have a leak - have checked for codes at transmission shop.

Recheck the fluid level. If it's OK check thelinkage under the car on the driver's side to be sure the the shift mechanism is moving when you move the shifter from Park to Drive and so on.

is it a 3speed or 4 speed, the 4 speed has o around the d in the gear select window?

yes it was really low better yet it wasn't anything on the stick but i put fluid in there and it reads but still nothing. its 3 speed

how long did you wait after adding oil with it in drive?
if it was low enogh for the torque converter to airagate, it may take a min. or so to fill agin and cuppul to the engin.
once it's filled and you feel the gear come on, put it in park with engin idling and recheck the fluid level.
there is also a chance that with the low fluid the forward clutch is burnd up, that's why i asked about the color of the oil, burnt clutches cause a dark oil.
also did you try it in manual low/ number one on the gear ind.?
