I have a 1986 toyota 4runner 22r turbo engine. blowing blue smoke. telltale sign of turbo leak/bad bearings. I tuned valves and re-aligned timing. Any ideas of anything it could be other than turbo?

Check engine compression.
Check engine compression.
Good compression would indicate possibly a problem with the valve rings or valve guides. Blue smoke could be oil or a result of a rich fuel system.
