I have a 1997 Saturn SL1 that is overheating and the dealership I brought it to says the head gasket needs replace for $2000. I this something a back yard machanic like myself can do?? If so does it take any special tools?

Sadly, head gaskets are a bear to replace and the car just about has to be completely disassembled to do it. best scenario there is no machine work to be done, but that is rare. Good Luck.
