I have a 1998 Ford Taurus and when the car is cold the transmission works well, however once the engine heats up the transmission will only shift to like 15 mph. Do you think I need to replace the transmission?

Yeah, that's what it sounds

Yeah, that's what it sounds like! Gotta hate transmission problems. I have to rebuild one on my Honda.

Have you tried replacing the

Have you tried replacing the fluid and filter?

Agree with fluid and filter

Agree with fluid and filter change first before getting into the expense of changing the transmission.

Your problem is the lip seals

Your problem is the lip seals in the trans are hard as the trans fluid heats up the oil flows by the hard lip seals try putting one half ounce of brake fluid in your trans oil, drive for about 200 miles then change trans fluid. NO MORE THAN ONE HALF OUNCE the brake fluid will soften the lip seals and should fix your problem. If you put to much brake fluid in the trans it will swell the lip seals to big and the pressure will blow the lip seals off of the pistons in your trans resulting in a trans overhaul.
