I have a 2000 dodge intrepid 2.7 motor that the battery light stays on. I have a new battery and alt and it still will not charge the battery. I have also replaced the wire from the alt to the battery. What else could it be?

take it to parts store and
take it to parts store and have them test the system - the new alternator may be bad or the ground wire not connected properly.
Engine running there should
Engine running there should be at least 13.8V at battery, engine off just over 12V. Check all connections at alternator and battery. You can check each cell with a hydrometer. I had same problem;had a dead(.3V)cell.I could tell you to go to autozone, but I think you are trying to DIY. By the way,the battery indicator still lights;autozone told me it was all OK.
check battery ground cable
check battery ground cable especially where it cnnect to the engine; remove it clean it and make sure its' tight.
check charging system fuse to be sure it makes a good connection.
check to seeif there are any disconnected ground wires underhood (especially if you've recently had work on the car).
In addition to what's been
In addition to what's been posted already, you said you got a new alternator. Well, did you mean to say a rebuilt alternator instead? It's common for rebuilt parts (especially alternators and starters) to be defective. Don't be surprised if you gotta go through ten rebuilt alternators before you find one good one.
have the charging system
have the charging system checked at autozone for Free to be sure it is working properly.
Robert1972, What progress
Robert1972,
What progress have you made?
Rob, Double and triple check
Rob,
Double and triple check all your connections. They are be on tight and be free of all dirt, rust and corrosion. Pay particular attention to the grounds.
check the wires coming out of
check the wires coming out of the alternator and follow them to frame and/or battery you might find bad connection on either the POS or GROUND leads.
