Front brakes do most of the braking on all cars. But some newer cars can adjust rear brakes to apply more brake pad pressure to prevent nose dives under hard braking. German cars or brake systems have this. 9 times out of 10 front brakes wear out first though. This does also assume that there isn't any brake hardware sticking such as a caliper or slide.
