my 1995 xj6 wont start. had problems with the alarm and then it stopped starting. the lights work etc

Is the alarm "OE" (means original equipment factory installed}?

OR

Was the alarm installed "Aftermarket", after you purchased the car? If aftermarket, is it possible for you to post the manufacturer and model number of the alarm?

Is the engine cranking and not turning over, or is it not even cranking?

there's a ton of factory bulletins on the alarm system, you might have to see the dealer.

Below are alarm reset procedures,but either way it looks like you'll have to at least get some additional info from either a dealer or a shop which specializes in these cars.

If the Alarm needs to be reset you can do this on the XJS by accessing a pair of leads in the center console near the gear shifter. It's been a while since I did this and I think the procedure is buried in this forum somewhere. In my recollection there's a small 2 wire molex connector with (I think) yellow and purple leads. Plugging a switch (or fabricating one out of two wires) allows you to follow the XJ6 alarm coding procedure on the XJS. On the XJ6 there's a button switch in the glove box for doing this. On the XJS you get to take it to a dealership.
