my 1998 jetta tdi is lacking a lot of power. Could there be something cloged in the turbo or a defective turbo. Thanks

does it have a boost gauge
does it have a boost gauge and what is the reading on it at 1/2 throttle on a hill. check air filter, have you replaced fuel filter at service interval,is the chech engin light on,can you hear the turbo wine on acceleration, do you hear any abnormal noises under the hood? these are all things to check if you suspect turbo problems. let us know
I dont have a boost gauge and
I dont have a boost gauge and the air filter is fine. I cant recall when the last time the fuel filter was change, cant here the turbo kick in and no abnormal noise under the hood. I have been having ongoing problems with the engine light(has been tested numerous times).
