My son cars died out while driving we installed a new battery my sons father in-law seem to think it has something to do with the time changing. It want crank up but it will make the start up sound. 1997 Mercury Sable with over 200k miles

Check to make sure you put the battery cables on the right post, if you hooked them up wrong you could have burn't up the starter.
Make sure you positive +
Make sure you positive + cable Goes to the Starter solinoid, And The Negative- cable goes to a good ground on the engine.
