On a 1999 Chevy Blazer S10 how do you diagnose the 4WD system?

1. Use a voltmeter and check the 4 encoder signal voltages against the chart to see if it shows correctly for the position of the transfer case. Do this back probing at the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) or at the encoder.

2. Disconnect the encoder and verify that there is 5 volts on the 4 encoder wires from the TCCM.

3. Check the wires from the encoder back to the TCCM for an open or short to ground, if missing the 5-volt reference.
