Krazy, PO343 camshaft
Krazy,
PO343 camshaft position sensor circuit high input.
Like it states above. On your particular vehicle PO343 is not a sensor failure error, but a sensor circuit failure error. You don't resolve PO343 on your particular vehicle by replacin the cam sensor. You resolve it by TROUBLESHOOTING the electrical circuit that's feedin the cam sensor. Time to find another mechanic because the individual you're usin now is an idiot.
OK so I have checked
OK so I have checked continuty from wire to female end of plug, and there are no problems there. I also checked for power key on I am getting about 5 volts out of one wire and 12 volts and ground out of the other 2. The only thing left would be a computer agree or disagree, is there something else I didnt try or ? Apreciate the feed back thanks Karl
Krazy, Could be an ECM
Krazy,
Could be an ECM problem but not there yet man. Don't be too hasty here guy. Factor in an interference engine. With that being said tell me:
Current mileage?
Last time timing belt was replaced?
Has belt ever been replaced?
Is belt replacement long overdue?
Has engine jumped time?
Camshaft far enough out of sequence to trigger code????
100 thousand miles. Visual
100 thousand miles. Visual inspection of timing belt looked ok no dry rot or tears.
Krazy, PO343 Camshaft
Krazy,
PO343 Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit High Input Bank 1
Sorry man, Just can’t help but think that you’re missin one or more of the basics (below) that pertain to PO343 before throwin the ECM under the bus.
Output voltage of VVT sensor more than 4.7 V for 4
Seconds (1 trip detection logic)
Open or short in VVT sensor for intake camshaft circuit
VVT sensor for intake camshaft
Camshaft timing gear for intake camshaft
Jumped tooth of timing belt for intake camshaft
CMP (Hall) sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
CMP (Hall) sensor ground circuit is open
CMP (Hall) sensor power circuit is open (check fuse in the I/P)
CMP (Hall) sensor is damaged
Wiring short to positive
Check connector plug for pins that are pushed out or in
