Pontiac, Bonneville, 1992, right axle outside CV Boot, -How do I replace boot, can I use a split type replacement boot (if so, do I need to remove the wheel & disc brakes assembly to install), or is best to replace the whole axle assembly

split type is temporary fix -

split type is temporary fix - install a new cv assembly. go to autozone.com - register - add vehicle and go to repair section for step by step with pics.

The split boot most likely

The split boot most likely will not hold for long (never has for me). I usually replace the the boot with the factory type. It requires removing the axle and disassembling it. The split boot type doesn't require you to remove the axle.

"Split Boot" is a waste of

"Split Boot" is a waste of time and money. Temporary repair. Won't last. Entire "Half Shafts" have come down in price. Many come with a "Lifetime Replacement Warranty". Swapping out the entire "Half Shaft" is a better route to take.
