Replacing an alternator

I own a mazda mpv 1994 v6. The car problem is, the battery will not stay charge. I have replace the battery with a new replacement. I had the alternator check for proper voltage. After I recharge the battery the car will operate for a few days before the it will not start. Do I need to change the alternator.

you have a short - you will

you have a short - you will need a test lite on the removed ground cable - attach the lite between a ground and the cable - it will lite up if there's a short. pull 1 fuse at a time to find the short. bare wire most likely near frame or to a switch.

Sababbu akida, First of all

Sababbu akida,

First of all you (DO NOT) have a short. In automotive electrical technology the word short gets thrown around like a penney in my pocket. Secondary to (CONNECTION ISSUES) you have a failed (DIODE PACK) in the alternator. This is because as you started, you had the alternator checked for voltage, but you never had (IT CHECKED FOR AMPERAGE).
