replacing water pump

I have a 1999 Buick Regal w/ a 3.8 ltr. when i started to remove the water pump, i came across a bolt that comes out from behind the power steering pump pully. How is someone supposed to remove and replace the water pump easier than removing whole engine.I don't know how to remove power steering pump to get to water pump bolt.Or , can i side-cut the hole of the bolt housing without causing damage to water pump performance

Fasteddie, Although some PS

Fasteddie,

Although some PS Pump Pulleys come without holes, yours should have three large holes that you can put a socket (I'm thinking 13mm) and extension through to remove the PS Pump. Don't worry about disconnecting the lines. There should be enough play to move the pump aside.
