what would happen if a thermostat in a 2003 Dodge Ram is put in backwards

what engin? most offen it would crush it and pos. crack housing. if not it might not open and if it did ti would cool too fast, as where the cool water would be on the bimetalic heat sink. i'd say run very hot, to over heating.
