when my 96 6 cylender oldsmobile ciera cutlass hits 55 and i'm gradually accelerating it clunks, the car jerks and doesn't stop unless i let off the gas or put it to the floor. i just changed my plugs and wires but, if it's that, why only at 55?

i have a 91 Ciera that's

i have a 91 Ciera that's doing the same thing, and i just realized that my catalytic converter is bad. when mine bogs down around 50 mph it makes a lot of noise from the exhaust rataling, and makes the car shake. tomorrow i am going to cut the cat off and punch it out to unclog it and hope that will fix the problem. i will let you know if it fixes it

Very illegal.

Very illegal.

William, have you ruled out

William, have you ruled out transmission issues, fuel delivery issues, misfires/backfires, and checked the exhaust backpressure readings?

If your problem is the catalytic converter, as I told henry in another thread, that's just another symptom, not the actual problem. Catalytic converters don't just "go bad" for no reason. Something causes it and it's usually a more serious issue in the engine itself.

Henry, This is the THIRD

Henry,

This is the THIRD thread you stated for the SAME issue.
DON'T post anymore at this particular thread.
It's gonna lead to confusion and delay your repair.
Let's stay with the FIRST thread you started.

This is not my post I seen someone else's with similar problems and was wondering if either I could help them or if they got the problem fixed and could help me

I JUST posted an answer for you at your other thread.

Let's stick with that thread.
