where is cooling fan sensor on a 2001 pt cruiser 2.4L

What is the problem you are having?

The coolant fans will turn on depending on temperature of the coolant and the speed of the engine.

I have included a location of the sensor an a replacement of the fan.

Removal & Installation


NOTE
The fan motor, fan, and the shroud are serviced as an assembly.




CAUTION
Do not open the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure, because serious burns from coolant can occur.



  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove battery and battery tray.

  4.  
  5. Drain cooling system below upper radiator hose level.
  6.  
  7. Remove grille.
  8.  
  9. Remove upper radiator closure panel and center brace.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect upper radiator hose from radiator.
  12.  
  13. For turbocharger equipped vehicles: Remove radiator inlet neck.
  14.  
  15. Hoist vehicle.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector (.

  18.  
  19. Remove the two lower and left side radiator fan screws and.
  20.  
  21. Lower vehicle and remove the remaining radiator fan attaching screws.

    WARNING
    Care should be taken not to damage the radiator cooling fins and tubes during fan removal.

  23. Remove radiator fan by lifting up from the engine compartment.

To install:

  1. Install the radiator fan into position on the radiator.
  2.  
  3. Hand-start all radiator fan fasteners.
  4.  
  5. Tighten all radiator fan retaining screws to 55 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the radiator fan electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Carefully lower the vehicle.

  10.  
  11. For turbocharger equipped vehicles: Inspect radiator inlet neck O-ring. Replace if necessary. Install radiator inlet neck. Torque fasteners to 55 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Connect the upper radiator hose to radiator. Align hose and position clamp so it will not interfere with the engine or the hood.
  14.  
  15. Install upper radiator closure panel and center brace.

  17. Install grille.
  18.  
  19. Install battery tray and battery.
  20.  
  21. Connect cables to battery.
  22.  
  23. Fill cooling system.
  24.
