my 99 ford contour pulls to the left only whe i stop what could it be

sounds like right caliper is not working - might be a good idea to have it inspected.

Also, remove all the lug nuts

Also, remove all the lug nuts from all for wheels. Now reinstall them using a "Torque Wrench" set at 100 ft lbs.

Have the front brake pads been replaced recently?
Have the rotors (EVER) been turned or replaced?
Are you having to add brake fluid?
What condition is the rear braking system in?

You might not be getting same

You might not be getting same pressure at both calipers at same time. Ive seen that happen also. Agree jerryh20 and master have it checked.

most brake and muffler shops will do a free insp. on brakes, call around and have them look at it, let us know what they say.

check the front calipers to

check the front calipers to see if one is sticking. (the pads on the sticking caliper will be thicker than the others).

if you suspect a sticking caliper, bleed the front brakes and test drive the vehicle to see if it still pulls.

If so, suspect the brake line on the side it pulls toward. check it by loosening line to see how much fluid flows from it; when bleeding compared to the other side.
