On my BMW 325ci, when I am driving above 45mph and I step on the brakes the steering wheel starts to shake. It doesn't happen all the time at this speed but when I does it shakes quite a bit.

sounds like the front brake

sounds like the front brake rotors are warpped.
most brake and muffler shops will do a free insp of the brakes.

Ok, so it sounds that I have

Ok, so it sounds that I have to get them inspected then. I will keep you posted on that cause someone told me that it could be the bushings on the control arms. Does that sound like something that could cause that?

e30m3ochoa, Answer to your

e30m3ochoa,

Answer to your question is (YES). Worn out control arm bushings (CAN) feel like warped rotors.

loose suspenion componets

loose suspenion componets will not cause a viberation by themself, but will make a viberation worse.

So about the bushings, how do

So about the bushings, how do I do on checking that? I want to check all the other things that could be posibly wrong cause the checking of the brake rotors will be the las thing since I really don't have time to take it to the shop to get them checked. Can I inspect the rotors myself?

jack up front wheels and

jack up front wheels and shake tires side to side and up and down, look for any play or loosness.
play up and down could be wheel bearing, ball joint or control arm bushings loose.
if play side to side, could be steering rack or tie rods, you'll have to look to see just witch componet is loose, if all tight replace pads and rotors.

warped rotors need to be

warped rotors need to be checked with a dial indicator. doesn't take long to check at a shop. if the shop in your area offers free brake and front suspension checks that is probably the best route to take.

Ok, so I lifter my car again

Ok, so I lifter my car again to see of there was any play on the wheel and there is some. Both side to side and up and down. How do I go on eliminating the components that aren't the fault?

The play you are describing

The play you are describing is comin from the wheel bearings.

So in other words, that is

So in other words, that is what I would need to replace? Will that stop the steering wheel shaking when I push on the breaks?

Yes, but only after you check out the other things here that the other mechanics posted. You gotta realize that they posted alot of good information. You gotta check out what they said first. My response is based on if everything they said checks out ok. From you I'm not seeing any feedback. I'm not seeing any answers to what the others told you to check. Doin that is only gonna leave the answer to your problem "open ended" and just delay the repair. Bottom line is check out everything here the other mechanics told you to check out. If all that checks out good, then replace the wheel bearings.
