and there is 1/2 tank of gas
and there is 1/2 tank of gas in the car, and the battery works great..(btw).. ive checked for sparks, and there ok, distributor ok, starter, alternator ok.. truely running out of ideas, and we strained the gas tank to see if there was any sedament in it and nothing.. im beginning to thing its in the fuel line that runs under the car up to the engie.. please all mighty mechnics i need your help.. ill make you cookies..lol
you will have to eliminate
you will have to eliminate the line by checking fuel pressure - take it off at both ends and blow it out if the pressure is low. sometimes you get a bad part, was the pump new or rebuilt?
brand spankin new pump and
brand spankin new pump and filter, so tomorrows project is to check the fuel lines, can i use an air compressor or wuld that just be extreme?..lol well im headed out to the parts store to get a relay. i bought the car 2yrs ago, the girl b4 more wrecked it.. ive been lucky so far not to have any major repairs, i dont mind doing the work myself either, im just not to knowledgable about what under the car, and were things are located, but all of you have been so extremely helpful.. far better then any damn manual..or auto parts store thats just lookin to up there sales that day.. thank you all so very much..
simplest way to check fuel
simplest way to check fuel pump operation is by either listening for the humming sound it makes (with the gas cap off) or by putting your hand on the gas tank (to feel the vibration as the pump runs), and having an assistant to turn the ignition switch on (do not start engine). The pump should run for about 2 seconds and the stop (it will run for 2 secs each time you turn the key on, unless the engine starts and then the pump continues to run).
If there is evidence that the pump is working, this eliminates the need to check the fuses and/or relays.
Double check the flow direction of the fuel filter you installed. Reverse installation can lower fuel pressure.
Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel rail, underhood. Place the end of the fuel line in a bottle, turn the ignition switch on for about 5 seconds (do not spin the engine over). For the 2 seconds that the fuel pump runs it should pump about 3-4 ounces of fuel into the bottle. If it's significantly less, suspect a clogged line.
post your results.
