diesel fuel diagnostic for no start condition.
i have a 1988 f350 with a 7.3 diesel. it had a injection pump installed and ran fine. after sitting it wouldnt start.i found holes in the fuel tank. i installed new fuel tank, mechanical pickup pump, and tested glow plugs. 7 of them tested good. it doesnt even try to start with starter fluid OR WD40. i installed 2 news 1000cca batteries to speed up engine rpm at start. no go. i bled the system 6 or 7 times and have fluid pooling at the injector. is it possible trash got in new inj pump ? how could i test injection pump? what should i do next? punt?

magnol, Is the pump
magnol,
Is the pump timed?
Crack open an injector line while the engine is crankin to see if the FSS (Fuel Shutoff Solenoid), is allowing fuel to travel through the injector pump. Even if your test light shows voltage to the FSS it still might not be opening. You should have about 5 PSI at the fuel filter when you crank the engine, and be gettin at least 1/3 of a pint of fuel in 10 seconds of cranking. Hook all the fuel lines back up, then remove the schrader valve from the filter bleed valve, and connect a pressure gauge for a test. What’s the PSI? Now, remove the gauge from the hose, and use the hose to route the fuel into a container for the above volume test. Here’s a helpful link.

i,ll try these steps.. i am getting fuel at the injector lines when i bleed the system. i know i am getting good pressure from the pickup pump from the fuel tank, when i take the line off of the filter assy it blows fuel all the way across the engine compartment.
