Calibration Test (Without Tester) Use a DVOM to check gauge calibration. With sending unit float arm in empty stop position, resistance should be 15 ohms. With sending unit float arm in full stop position, resistance should be 160 ohms. Fuel gauge should begin to read empty at 22.5 ohms and full at 145 ohms
