Replaced a bad fuel pump on a 1996 Chevy S10. After installing the new pump, new pump still does not run. Checked for voltage at the pump and no voltage. Wired 12V to pump and it runs. Truck won't start. What else can I check?

sounds like the computer is disabling it for some reason. pos bad crank sensor, ect.. have you checked for spark, if no spark than you've got a lot more checking to do. do you have a scan tool?

Truck has spark. Can spray

Truck has spark. Can spray fuel in throttle body and truck tries to crank. I was wondering about possible bad ECM. Don't have a scan tool.

could be, most likely not.

could be, most likely not. hum! a 96, i think there's a fuel pump test dead under hood. it over rides the pcm and fires the pump. be right back.

I found the problem. It was a

I found the problem. It was a broken ground wire from where we removed the truck bed to replace the fuel pump. Found when we reinstalled the bumper and reconnected the wiring harness for the tail lights.
