harmonic balancer
i have an 87 ford f150 300 6 cyl and i was wondering if there was supposed to be a washer behind the harmonic balancer? and also is the power steering pully is supposed to move in out out when its not running

no washer - some play as long as it doesn't leak

manual, There is a washer behind the bolt, but to the best of my knowledge there is no washer behind the balancer itself. Why do you ask? I've never head of a power steering pulley moving in and out when the pump is running or not running. When you say moving in out do you really mean to say that there is play in the pulley? If you mean play and there is play that means the bearing that the pulley and shaft rides on is shot. Did you ever fix your belt shredding problem?
