sometines starting the 2001 ford expedition the engine stalls. hold down accelertor pedal for 10 seconds engine smoothes out. sometimes it just doesn't start. any solutions?

The common problem on those engines is a sticking IAC valve [idle air control} you can try reoving it and cleaning it,and the throttle body with throttle body sprak cleaner,it yo still have problems,you will have to replace the IAC valve.
