I cannot regulate the cabin temperature in my 1997 Ford Explorer. I only get cold air when set to Max Air, all other setting produce hot air no matter what the temperature dial setting. What could be the cause/cure for this issue?

This vehicle is equipped with

This vehicle is equipped with an Electronic Automatic Temperature Control module. This module operates the blend door actuator. The blend doors will open and close allowing certain air flow, or air restrictions - creating: "defrost", or "vent", "recirculate" depending on operator's settings. A very common problem is broken blend doors. Access the blend door actuator behind the glove box. Turn the a/c on "AC MAX" and remove the wiring connector from the actuator. Change settings to "AC", if the heater turns on but the a/c compressor keeps running, you more than likely have a broken blend door. This door is serviced as part of the heater case assembly.
